About the Session

Purpose, people and the path forward

What is a Session

A Session is the supreme governing assembly of our organisation, convened every five years to ensure transparency and accountability, through a faith-based and democratic process. It serves as a formal gathering where delegates from across the regions come together to audit the work and the stewardship from the previous quinquennium, discuss and improve key policies, and elect the leadership that will guide us into the next term.

More than just a series of meetings, the Session is the heartbeat of our governance, where every voice contributes to the collective vision and the strategic direction of our future.

Who attends

The Session brings together delegates who have been prayerfully selected by their local congregations to serve as the voice of their communities. These representatives are drawn from across the British Isles, bringing together diverse perspectives from the South England Conference, the North England Conference, and from our three missions: the Welsh Mission, the Irish Mission, and the Scottish Mission.

As official participants, these delegates carry the responsibility of reviewing the work of the previous quinquennium and voting on the strategic decisions that will shape the future of the entire British Union Conference.

The Theme

Walk. Love. Do. is a spiritual mandate that guides our gathering and our future. We are called to Walk together in humility and faith, reviewing our journey through the past quinquennium with hearts open to God’s leading.

We are called to Love our communities and one another, re-imagining our mission through the lens of compassion and stewardship. Finally, we are called to Do the work set before us, resetting our focus to take active, purposeful steps in service across our territories.

As we meet to elect leadership and shape policy, we do so with the commitment to not just speak our faith, but to live it out in every action.
