About the Session
Purpose, people and the path forward
What is a Session
A Session is the highest decision-making gathering of the Church within the Union, convened every five years to reflect on God’s leading in the work of the Church and to prayerfully consider the priorities that will guide its mission in the coming years.
As a formal gathering where delegates from across the South England Conference, North England Conference, Irish Mission, Scottish Mission, and Welsh Mission, come together, they will receive reports from the Union’s departments and ministries, review the progress of the Church’s mission across the territory, and participate in decisions that help shape the future work and leadership of the British Union Conference.
While the Session includes important governance responsibilities, it is also a moment of spiritual reflection and celebration. It offers the opportunity to recognise the faithfulness of church members, pastors, and leaders who continue to serve their communities and share the hope of the gospel throughout the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Who attends
The Session brings together delegates who have been prayerfully selected by their local congregations to serve as the voice of their communities. These representatives are drawn from across the British Isles, bringing together diverse perspectives from the South England Conference, the North England Conference, and from our three missions: the Welsh Mission, the Irish Mission, and the Scottish Mission.
As official participants, these delegates carry the responsibility of reviewing the work of the previous quinquennium and voting on the strategic decisions that will shape the future of the entire British Union Conference.

The Theme
Walk. Love. Do. is a spiritual mandate that guides our gathering and our future. We are called to Walk together in humility and faith, reviewing our journey through the past quinquennium with hearts open to God’s leading.
We are called to Love our communities and one another, re-imagining our mission through the lens of compassion and stewardship. Finally, we are called to Do the work set before us, resetting our focus to take active, purposeful steps in service across our territories.
As we meet to elect leadership and transact business, we do so with the commitment to not just speak our faith, but to live it out in every action.
